We know it can be hard to keep up with everything that is happening at the moment. Because of that, we’ve decided to create a page where all information regarding COVID-19 and UPEI can be found. Below, you will be able to find information on campus events, campus closures, what services are available, health plan coverage, and much more! If you need more information that hasn’t been covered here, please email us at info@upeisu.ca and we will try to help you as much as we can.
UPEI courses will be primarily online for the 2021 Winter Academic Semester with exceptions for in-person, on-campus instruction. These exceptions are for accredited programs in health and clinical-based programming (such as Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Psychology, and Sustainable Design Engineering), as well as for some lab-based courses in Science and performance-based programming in Arts (such as Music and Theatre).
Yes! As usual, students who were set to graduate this Spring, will still be eligible. If a student has successfully met their graduation requirements they will be able to receive their degree via instructions from the Registrar’s Office (so keep an eye out on your student email!).
Yes, campus has reopened for the Winter 2021 Semester. All students, staff, and faculty must adhere to proper social distancing guidelines, sanitize their hands upon building entrance, follow maximum room capacity as outlined by the university (as posted in each room), and wear a mask inside campus buildings.
Essential services are UPEI Health and Wellness Centre; Accessibility Services and Counselling Services at UPEI Student Affairs; the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Diagnostic Services, Animal Resources, and Central Services at the Atlantic Veterinary College; UPEI Security Services; UPEI Chaplaincy Centre; and the UPEI Residences.

Yes! We will be operating the Student Union food bank, “SUpplies”, at a smaller capacity than usual, offering less choices. However, there will still be basic and essential food items such as canned goods made accessible in SUpplies. Additionally, we want to ensure that students who are in need the most are being supported. Every week, a member of our team will be going out to buy groceries for those who need it, and preparing food hampers for pick up.
