Statement Regarding Negotiations Between University Board of Governors and The UPEI Faculty Association

1 February 2022 – Charlottetown, PE

UPEI Students,

As most of you are aware via an email sent by Vice-President Academic & Research, Greg Naterer, sent January 31 evening, the UPEI Faculty Association (UPEIFA) has the power to host a strike vote henceforth from Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

The UPEI Student Union would like you to know that we share your concerns and are here to support you, answer your questions, and listen to your concerns. We do not wish to see either party take labour action. We strongly encourage the University Board of Governors and the UPEI Faculty Association to return to the table to continue negotiations. A strike would directly and negatively impact students in regards to their education and everyday livelihood. A strike is a situation where nobody wins.

The UPEI Student Union works for and represents all students, and we will continue to advocate for continued negotiations. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the UPEISU President & CEO, Adam MacKenzie, at president@upeisu.ca

Sincerely,

UPEISU Executive Committee:

Adam MacKenzie, President & CEO

Leena Daboo, Vice President Finance & Administration

Anthonia Bebiem, Vice President Student Life

Iyobosa Igbineweka, Vice President Academic & External
