21 April, 2017 – Charlottetown, PE

The UPEI Student Union was pleased to recognize two outstanding staff and faculty members at UPEI during their annual banquet on Friday, March 31st.

Dr. Andrew Godbout, a new professor at the University of Prince Edward Island, was the recipient of the 2017 Faculty of the Year Award. “Dr. Godbout has done an amazing job of making waves in the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences. He has created a Programming Ladder for students to complete, has helped students get involved in Google conferences, and helped form a student group for community research,” said UPEI Student Union President, Nathan Hood, in his address at the banquet. “These are only a few examples of what he has done to reshape and reignite passion for Computer Science. If UPEI continues to hire more professors like Dr. Godbout, this university will have an ever growing positive reputation.”

Anne Sheehan, a custodian for Don & Marion McDougall Hall at UPEI, was awarded the Staff of the Year award. “She is the kind of person that is not afraid to reach out and help a student when they are feeling down,” said Hood. “She does a lot for the university and always goes the extra mile to make a student’s day better.”
