31 Mar UPEISU Statement Regarding March 31st Meeting with the Presidents
Earlier today, UPEI Student Union President Adam MacKenzie met with Dr. Greg Keefe, President and Vice-Chancellor of UPEI, and corresponded with Dr. Michael Arfken, President of the UPEI Faculty Association.
We urged both presidents to work towards achieving a Collective Agreement and consider all reasonable options necessary to do so. It has been two weeks since this labour disruption began, and there appears to have been minimal progress made thus far. Students’ mental health is deteriorating. We feel increasingly isolated and we worry about what our futures will hold.
Enough is enough. The time has come for both sides to return to the negotiating table and begin working towards an agreement that betters our University as a whole; especially that of the student experience here at UPEI.
We are pleased to see UPEI has committed to returning to the negotiating table on April 1st & 2nd and we hope that the process proves fruitful to both parties. The UPEI Student Union encourages both parties to approach this process in good faith and work to ensure a positive outcome for all those affected.
If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our President, Adam MacKenzie at president@upeisu.ca.
Sincerely,
The UPEISU
