Student Union embracing innovative ideas while staying true to roots
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
14 September, 2016 – Charlottetown, PE
At their meeting on Sunday, September 11th, 2016, the UPEI Student Union Council approved three statements of the Student Union’s policy priorities for the 2016 – 2017 academic year.
“This year, the UPEI Student Union Council has voted to approve three policy priorities that stay true to the roots of the Student Union: advocating on improving financial aid, while introducing innovative ideas around experiential learning, and open educational resources,” said Vice President Academic and External, John Rix.
The approved policy priorities include:
- “Ensuring Students Have Experiential Learning Opportunities”
- “Creating a Needs-Based Provincial Student Grant Program”
- “Using Open-Educational Resources in University Classes”
Rix will be reaching out to various groups and individuals to touch on these topics and advance these initiatives. “We will be taking steps to meet with key stakeholders, elected officials, and the University to ensure these ideas can be developed into concrete policy changes that will benefit students.”
